About the American Miss National Pageant (AMP)

Founded in 1986, the American Miss Pageant has helped hundreds of young women connect with like-minded peers and gain invaluable life skills that last well beyond the crown. Whether you’ve competed before or are fulfilling a lifelong dream to participate, AMP provides a safe, supportive space to discover that you are capable of more than you ever imagined.
The AMP system combines style and sophistication with character-building opportunities designed for goal-driven girls and women. It’s an experience that inspires confidence, leadership, and lifelong friendships.

DIVISIONS: Mini (2-4) • Young Miss (5-8) • Preteen (9-12) • Jr. Teen (13-15) • Teen (16-19) • Ms. • (26+ single, divorced, a parent ) Mrs. (18+ must be married) • Elegant Miss (50+ married or single)

ABOUT THE AMP COMPETITION

INTERVIEW - Delegates wear an outfit of their choice. Mini age division - NO Interview. Outfit of your choice: dress, jumpsuit, pantsuit, let your personality shine through in the portion of the competition. The 3-5 minute, (depending on age-division) Panel Interview allows Judges to derive questions from the delegate application and score delegates for Personality, Ambition, Confidence, Overall Appearance. Judges will be seated. Delegates stand for this portion of the competition.
Scoring: 30% of overall score. Judge's scores and notes available. Mini age division - NO Interview. Mom will accompany their daughter and introduce them to the panel of judges. No score.

INTRODUCTION: Delegates state their name, age, hometown, and state. Criteria for judging Opening Number are Onstage Personality, Confidence, Overall Appearance. Delegates will receive the official AMP opening number dress, designer, FEARLESS by Katie Winchenbach, at registration.
Scoring: 10% of overall score. Stage presence, confidence, enthusiasm. Judge's scores and notes available. Mini age division - NO self-Intro.

FASHION RUNWAY. It's more fun and modish than an evening gown and may be a dress, shorts or pants outfit. Delegates model an outfit of choice and are judged on Outfit, Creativity, Modeling Ability and Confidence. Walking pattern will be posted prior to nationals.
Scoring: 30% of overall score. Judge's scores and notes available. Mini age division 50% of overall score.

EVENING GOWN: The most beautiful part of any pageant - the Evening Gown Competition. Delegates select a floor-length gown or their choice. Mini only, short or floor length dress. Judges will be looking for Poise, Gracefulness, Confidence, and Overall Appearance. Walking pattern will be posted prior to nationals.
Scoring: 30% of overall score. Judge's scores and notes available. Mini age division 50% of overall score.
